Summer Concert features Amy Hanaiali‘i

The fifth annual summer concert on June 27 presented by the ‘Iolani Alumni Association featured one of Hawai‘i’s most beloved musicians, multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner and Grammy nominee Amy Hanaiali‘i. In ‘Iolani’s center courtyard, she entertained a crowd of hundreds with her unique blend of traditional Hawaiian falsetto, jazz standards, and pop hits.

Her musicians, likewise, impressed the audience with virtuoso skills on the guitar and upright bass. Prior to Hanaiali‘i’s performance, HALAU, composed of many alumni dancers, opened with several beautiful numbers. Alumni and their families brought lawn chairs, picnic baskets and mats to enjoy the outdoor concert.

Hanaiali‘i joined the list of other top musicians who have performed at the association’s free summer event. Past concerts featured Cecilio &  Kapono, The Makaha Sons, Hapa, and Ho‘okena. For more information on upcoming events, visit www.IolaniAlumni.org.
