18th Annual Eddie Hamada Golf Tournament

Posted on October 2, 2025October 2, 2025 by admin

August 7, 2009, at Pearl Country Club felt like the perfect day for a tradition that brings the ‘Iolani community together. Alumni, families, and friends arrived early, clubs in hand, ready to play—and ready to celebrate what makes this event special: camaraderie, community, and a shared love for ‘Iolani School.

This year’s tournament raised $32,000 for the Eddie Hamada Golf Scholarship Fund, supporting students who embody Eddie Hamada’s values of leadership, character, and perseverance. Every swing, every cheer, and every laugh contributed to a cause bigger than the game itself.

The steering committee—from Lorene Azama to Shaun Ushijima ’81—worked behind the scenes to ensure the day ran smoothly. Volunteers, including the Class of 1966 and students like Mitchell Nagata ’09, brought energy, smiles, and care to every detail.

A Celebration of Community

The Eddie Hamada Golf Tournament is more than a competition. It’s a day where friendships are renewed, stories are shared, and the spirit of ‘Iolani shines through. As golfers and supporters know, the event isn’t just about winning—it’s about giving back, celebrating legacy, and strengthening the bonds that make the school community so special.

By the end of the day, the laughter, cheers, and shared memories reminded everyone why this tournament continues to be a cherished tradition. It’s a perfect blend of sport, spirit, and aloha.
